SKETCH II.
Following the duration of an entire roll of film, the camera documents a sushi conveyor belt. The protagonists of this production are the dishes themselves: they present themselves, compete with one another, and circulate within a system whose beginning and end remain hidden; the feeding force behind the machine remains uncertain.
In a meditative state, the work poses an open question regarding our desires—from the mere urge to possess to the human hunting instinct. It addresses the consumption of “images” and the fundamental nature of our hunger: a longing for presence and fulfillment that first captures the eye as it moves between the passing plates. Realized with the kind support of the City of Graz.
